    1.      What is your name?  

Darlene Marie Horton  My maiden name is Booth - many jokes about John Wilkes Booth being in my family but I have not come across that yet.

 

    2.      Do you prefer a nick name? 

No  My husband calls me Sunflower, some call me Dar but I don't really like that and I used to be called Smiley when I was young because I didn't smile much.

 

    3.      What is your favorite color to wear?

 Green and Purple (but not at the same time)

 

     4.      What is your favorite flavor of ice cream? 

Ben and Jerry's Chunky Monkey

 

     5.      What time do you normally get up?

 5:30 am

 

    6.      What is one thing you would like to learn/accomplish someday?

 Organizing my Genealogy in a way that my family would be able to understand and I could pass it down. I would love to make a children's book telling our genealogy for my great nieces/nephews and especially my grandsons before they grow up.

 

    7.      How many siblings do you have?

 10 of which 7 are alive

 

     8.      What season do you like the best?

 Fall

 

     9.      What is your favorite TV show, book or movie? 

7th Heaven, The Voice, American Idol, Resurrection and Believe at this time.  I like chick flicks and one of my favorite books is a child's book "I will love you forever"

 

     10.  What do you like to have for breakfast? 

Oatmeal, Plain Greek Yogurt with fresh fruit and sometimes a hard boiled egg.

 

      11.  How long have you lived in our ward?

 Since it was built - and I was a member of the first ward when it was in Highland Park - I was baptized there in 1978 until we moved to Irondequoit in 1984 when we were transferred to the 2nd ward but then the 1st Ward was built right in our neighborhood.  I love the first ward, it is the best!

      12 .  What's your favorite snack?

 Apple with Peanut Butter when I am good and ice cream when I am not

 

      13. Do you prefer the beach, the city or the country?

 The country though I have never lived in the country.  I lived in the city in Detroit until I was 12 and then moved to the city in Rochester until 1983 when we moved to Irondequoit and have been here every since.

 

      14.  Are you allergic to anything?

 No

 

     15. What pets do you have, if any?

 None but we have had them all when the boys were little.  Dogs, cats, rabbit, bird, chameleon, hamster.

 

     16. What is your favorite color? 

Green and Purple

 

     17. What is your favorite sandwich?

 Toasted Tomato Sandwich with tomatoes from the garden and toasted Cheese sandwich with tomato.

 

    18. What do you think is your very best feature or characteristic?

  I am non-judgmental, honest, trustworthy, friendly, loving and forgiving.

 Sunflower

 

     20. If you could go anywhere in the world on vacation, where would you go? 

England where my son served his mission and Alaska.

 

     21. What are your Hobbies?

 Painting on wood, sewing, crochet and genealogy.

 Not squeezing the toothpaste tube right and putting empty food containers away.

 

    23. Where were you born?

 Dearborn, Michigan - I lived there until I was 12 years old when I moved to Rochester.

 At least a dozen times.

Relief Society Spotlight

1.      What is your name?

     Sarah Marlowe Gerew 

2.      Do you prefer a nick name?

      Through high school and during my brief time as a makeup artist people called me by my middle name. I loved and preferred it. Some people still call Marlowe

3.      What is your favorite color to wear?

      Whatever color my sweatshirt happens to be during the week, black if I feel like being fancy. 

4.      What is your favorite flavor of ice cream?

       Cookies and cream, or sweet cream 

5.      What time do you normally get up?

        Alarm goes off at 7:15, but if I don't feel like making lunches I can sleep in until 7:20-7:25

6.      What is one thing you would like to learn/accomplish someday?

        Speak Italian, and achieve my ideal weight/fitness level

7.      How many siblings do you have?

       Tyler is my older brother by 1 1/2 years, and Lacey is my younger sister by two years

8.      What season do you like the best?

       Toss up between late spring and early winter. Love it when the leaves start to grow, love watching the snow start to fall

9.      What is your favorite TV show, book or movie? 

       Arrested Development is officially my favorite TV show. We watch all three seasons like 4 times a year. I'm not sure if a mini series counts as a movie or a tv show, but my favorite mini series is Band of Brothers. I can't pick a favorite movie

10.   What do you like to have for breakfast?

       Breakfast is whatever I feel like having. I'm not a "breakfast foods are for breakfast" person. I make sautéed vegetable wraps, cheese roll up, or I'll just skip it and snack up till dinner

      11.  How long have you lived in our ward?

              We moved into this ward in May of 2008

      12 .  What's your favorite snack?

              Ding Dongs are my favorite store bought snacks, but I like salt and vinegar potato chips,                                        chocolate milk, I'll grab a couple marinated mushrooms from time to time. I have random snack                      habits 

      13.  Do you prefer the beach, the city or the country? 

               I prefer the lake actually. I want a house on a lake where I can watch the sun set

      14.  Are you allergic to anything?

             I'm allergic to eucalyptus trees, goats, and pig fuzz. That's what the scratch test said

      15. What pets do you have, if any?

             Mugsy is my pit bull, Knocker and Gunner are my cats, and Bella has a fish tank.

      16. What is your favorite color?

              Green. Mostly because of how much I adore trees and plants

             Bruschetta chicken sandwich from Red Robin

      18.  What do you think is your very best feature or characteristic? 

              I'm spontaneous and sarcastic. Makes for an exciting life.

      19.  Favorite flower?

              The brief appearance of daffodils in the spring is enchanting, the dark red amaryllis at Christmas                      time, and the deep coral color of the hibiscus in the summer. That doesn't mean those flowers                        smell the best, but they are beautiful

      20.  If you could go anywhere in the world on vacation, where would you go?

             Scotland

      21.  What are your Hobbies?

              I crochet like crazy, quilling, bead work, all that crafty stuff.

              Being tugged on and pulled at and interrupted by children while I'm eating.

             I lived in one house in CA until I was 24, moved to Main st in Webster for 5 weeks, then lived in                        Irondequoit for three years I think, now I'm back in Webster.

I'd like to learn to speak and read Spanish.  I speak French, but I wish I had chosen to study Spanish instead, so I could speak to my students' parents.

2 - one older brother, who lives in North Carolina & one younger sister, who lives in Japan.

I Love summer! I love sunshine, swimming, camping, & no school!

TV show - Elementary / books - the Jack Reacher novels by Lee Child / movie - The Princess Bride

       I've been coming to 1st ward for almost 3 years.  I've lived here for 13.

       I love snacks in general...cheeseIts, chocolate covered pretzels, cookies (oreos), chocolate            cake, ritz crackers w/laughing cow; the list goes on & on

      13. Do you prefer the beach, the city or the country? 

       I'm a country girl (even though I live in suburbia), but I'm pretty happy at the beach, too.

      I'm allergic to cats, but not allergic enough to keep me from loving them and having too             many of them.

      3 cats (2 too many), plus Sarah's 3 goldfish

     I'm very loyal, to a fault sometimes

     I love to read, although I never have the time.  I love cars, too.  Someday I'd like to have a          muscle car that I can tinker with - a 68 camaro, preferably

     In Windham, NY, in the Catskill mts.  I was born in a blizzard; my parents couldn't get to             the hospital, and my dad delivered me at home.  Can you imagine?!

    Ugh! 8 times in a nine year period.   I'm never going to move again! I've lived in my house          for 13 years, and now I have too much stuff to ever move again.
